Welcome to Scouting as Youth Ministry in Troop 1954!

As Chaplain for Troop 1954 as well as our sister unit, Troop 1919, I have the honor of assisting scouts and their families as they grow in faith through the scouting program. The troops of St. Joseph Catholic Church participate in both the local and national level in retreats, training events, and religious recognition programs. This year, seven of our scouts earned the Catholic religious emblem appropriate to their age (The Ad Altare Dei for scouts in middle school; the Pope Pius XII for scouts of high school age). Additionally, our scouts and their families served our parish, led worship services at both summer and winter camps, and earned several activity patches related to Marian devotions, The Rosary, and Catholic Saints. Their work culminated in our unit once again receiving the prestigious Pope Paul VI Unit of Excellence Award from the National Catholic Committee on Scouting: the only troop in our diocese to earn the award for two consecutive years.

I look forward to continuing to serve our scouts and their families in the future. I pray that we can continue “Scouting in the Spirit” for many years to come.

Humbly,
Bob Schmidt
